10.62" White Handle Hoodoo Broom
This beautiful Hoodoo handbroom has some powerful history attached to it. The handbroom is considered to be a sacred tool used to cleanse sacred spaces to dispel negative energy and make room for new blissings. Handbrooms are usually made out of broomcorn (sorghum), palm, or raffia. These are all natural grasses. The grasses represent the wild , untamed nature of the forest. The handbroom embodies and contains the living spirits of the forest. It symbolizes love, nature, wilderness, freedom, purification, and protection. Enslaved people were forbidden to marry. As a form of rebellion and a part of Hoodoo traditions they married in secret and created the method of jumping the broom to represent sweeping away the past, cleansing the couple of evil, and stepping into a new life together.
